Eternal Step of Love

by Donna Milham

A decree of authority and humility, of promise and hope, of joy and salvation.

Luke 2:9 (The Message)
“A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master
This is what you’re to look for a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

Humility – you won’t be looking for an earthly king, pomp and circumstance, emeralds and diamonds with servants and slaves. No!

But the King, the Messiah, the Master of ALL!

He will be found in a manger, a baby, once on a Throne – now on straw in a trough.

Humility at its highest expression, no other act of humility can compare

Humility born out of Eternal Love. What is love we ask – there it is for all mankind to see. The Eternal One steps down – leaving all of Heaven behind – taking it off as a robe.

He steps out of the Heavenly Realms, down into a womb as a seed, grows into a baby – man child – and when it is TIME – bursts forth with Angelic Announcement.

To who??? The simple shepherds on their night watch.

At the angels decree, the angelic choir joins them singing God’s praises “Glory to God in the heavenly heights, peace to all men and women on earth who please Him”.

He was not wrapped in a royal robe or the moon and stars any longer, but a blanket, strips of cloth, swaddling clothes.

The angel tells the shepherds, after searching you will find a Baby – the One who IS Christ the Lord. Not will be, but is!!!

He did not become Savior Lord as He grew, but before the foundations of the earth He was and is and always will be.

God could have sent Him as a full grown man to live, train up disciples and lay down His life on the cross.

No!! He came as a seed – became a baby, born of a woman and grew into a man with a father and mother on earth – with a heavenly Father and Holy Spirit in Heaven.

Two realms – Heaven and earth – connected by this Baby – man child Jesus.

The angels who came and sang were not angels strumming harps with halos over their heads. This was an angel army of the troops of Heaven – ‘a heavenly knighthood’ praising God.

The first angel carried the glory of the Lord and this glory flashed and shone all about shepherds – they were terribly frightened. The Holiness of the Presence of Heaven on earth. Here is reverential fear in action – down on their faces – standing in awe – trembling in His Presence.

Holy Heaven’s Atmosphere suddenly appears to simple shepherds on night watches. And today they still come to those whom He chooses to send them to – night watches – day watches – holy encounters – as they wait. Those searching, actively looking, will find Him.

The shepherds understood they needed to ACT on the word the angel had spoken to them – they said ‘let us go over to Bethlehem to SEE this thing that HAS come to pass – which the LORD has made known to us.’

If our day was interrupted today – our daytimer filled – our day planned out – and the angel comes and speaks to us – what would we do, would we drop all and go seek?

The Kingdom of God has never been about convenience. What do we do when He speaks to us – gives prophetic word to us – do we act on it? What would we do if an angel appeared to us right now??? What do we do with Divine Suddenlies, Divine Interruptions of our daily lives??

It says they went with HASTE and by SEARCHING they found Mary, Joseph and the Baby lying in a manger.  Not any baby with a small ‘b’, but The Baby who would be and always was, the Lion and the Lamb!

May we be like the simple shepherds who respond to Heaven’s announcement – for all those who stumble in the darkness, behold your Light has come!! May we bow in holy reverential adoration – God with us!

He is but a breath away, one glance of our eye, one whisper of our hearts and He is there – God with us – Emmanuel! Master of all!

The Eternal Step of Love – bringing Light and Love for all to see and receive.

Humility at its highest declaring –

Luke 1:78-79

78 Because of and through the heart of tender mercy and loving-kindness of our God, a Light from on high will dawn upon us and visit [us] [Mal 4:2.]

79 To shine upon and give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet in a straight line into the way of peace. [Isa 9:2.]
